Creativity meets conservation in the Seascapes Art Exhibition at Benguela Galleries. As a WWF Conservation Champion, the Benguela Art Gallery is honoured to be hosting an exhibition that sheds light on the environment and ocean sustainability.
The title of the exhibition “Seascapes” is derived from a phrase by the 13th-century Persian poet Rumi: “You are not a drop in the ocean. You are an ocean in every drop,” which speaks to the abundance of water in the world, simultaneously alongside the potential of abundance within everyone.
The theme of water relates also to sustainability and ecology. We are thinking about our relationship with water at a really timely moment when the exhibition opens. The theme of water relates also to sustainability and ecology. Water and the ocean go together as the ocean is partly responsible for rain and regulating the drought season that the cape is so familiar with.
Water ideas a deeply historical and geographically broad way re highlighted in this exhibition. It's a foundational part of many cultures and religions. We are, you know, bodies of water ourselves. Our relationship with the world is similar, as water constantly flows into and out of us.
The Seascapes Art Exhibition touches on the beauty of the ocean, marine life, and the coral reef. The exhibition showcases a range of art done by artists all over South Africa. The beauty and mystery of the ocean intrigued these artists, and they shared their thoughts and feelings on their art which will be sure to captivate visitors. Allowing you to take a deep look into your relationship with yourself, the ocean and their art.
