Now in its fifth year, the African Excellence programme continues to highlight the companies and leaders who are spearheading and driving industry across the continent. Benguela Cove Lagoon Wine Estate is a leading South African ecotourism wine destination, located in the UNESCO designated Kogelberg Biosphere. World Wildlife Fund for Nature (WWF) has awarded Benguela Cove Lagoon Wine Estate the top award for excellence. It is for exceptional commitment to the collective conservation of threatened habitat in South Africa’s Succulent Karoo and the Cape Floral Kingdom as well as for outstanding dedication to environmentally responsible farming practices.
There is so much to do and see: Vineyard safari tours and Lagoon pontoon boat cruises, wine tastings and food pairing experiences, Moody Lagoon Restaurant, Art Gallery, and for children Benguela Splash! and 18-hole Adventure Golf & Blackbeard's Diner - allowing each guest to experience a different element of our sustainability and conservation throughout their experience.

How the winners Are Chosen
This Award is driven by results. The MEA Markets team does extensive research into qualifying establishments, as well as encouraging external nominations from the subscribers of the magazine, web visitors, social media following, clients and wider circulation. Nominating parties are invited to put forward either their own business or third-party companies whom they hold in high regard.
The dedicated research team carries on to assess all the information presented to them and work to gather information from a variety of publicly accessible sources, which are assessed alongside any material supplied by a nominating party or by the nominee themselves. The research team casts their final judgment, based on various criteria such including business performance, longevity, diversification, growth (either sustained or rapid), any significant innovations, feedback from stakeholders.
