Benguela Cove Park Run: A Morning of Fitness and Scenic Beauty

Every Saturday morning, the Benguela Cove Park Run brings together runners and walkers of all ages to experience something truly special. This past weekend was particularly exciting as we welcomed Bruce Fordyce, the legendary athlete and mastermind behind South Africa’s Park Run movement. His passion for making fitness accessible to everyone was felt throughout the event, and it was a real honour to have him with us.

Not just a run; it’s an experience

The Benguela Cove Park Run is not just a run; it’s an experience. Participants have the unique opportunity to explore parts of the estate that are typically reserved for homeowners, with a route that winds through the vineyards and offers breathtaking views of the lagoon and surrounding mountains. Whether you’re an avid runner or prefer a more relaxed walk, there’s a place for you here, and each participant is cheered on and supported by our dedicated team of volunteers.

Park Run is about more than just fitness - it’s a community event that encourages everyone to get outdoors, improve their mental health, and enjoy nature. As Bruce Fordyce always says, every person who crosses the finish line, whether running or walking, deserves to be celebrated. It’s that spirit of inclusivity and encouragement that makes the Park Run so special.

“We’ll wait for you to finish.”- Bruce Fordyce

Interview with Bruce Fordyce

To add to this exciting day, we've also included a video of Nick Rea interviewing Bruce Fordyce right here at Benguela Cove. It’s a fantastic conversation where Bruce shares his insights on the Park Run movement and its impact on communities around the world.

After the run, participants are invited to enjoy a well-earned breakfast at our restaurant. And in December, we’ll be adding a festive twist by involving our wine team, who will be on hand to greet runners and walkers with a splash of wine. There’s no better way to start your weekend than with fresh air, beautiful scenery, and a welcoming community. We hope to see you there!
