Planning a wedding or any large event can be stressful, but it doesn't have to be. To ensure your dream wedding comes true, it's best to start planning as early as possible, even if your event is scheduled for the spring or summer of next year. You'll be surprised at how much time is required to plan your perfect day.
First and foremost, you need to decide on your vision for the day. Benguela Cove, located in South Africa’s whale coast near the seaside town of Hermanus, offers a breathtaking lagoon, ocean and mountain views with plenty of space and flexibility to create a classic or contemporary style for your big day, regardless of your vision.
Whether you want a small and simple gathering or a grand and magnificent celebration, you should determine the vibe you want from the outset. Once you've established this, planning the finer details, such as invitations, food, and décor, will be a breeze. We can collaborate with your wedding planner or coordinator to ensure that all aspects, from cake makers to dressmakers, are taken care of.
We offer various locations for both daytime and evening weddings, such as the Moody Lagoon restaurant with seating for up to 180 guests and the Gallery for an art winery theme with seating for 80 people. Our glamorous winery and 200 hectares of vineyards give you plenty of options to choose from for ceremony choices.
At Benguela Cove Wine Estate, we understand that dining is a crucial part of your special day. That's why our Executive Chef Annie Badenhorst offers a range of mouth-watering dining options, including fine dining, tasting menus, canapés, and afternoon tea, to name a few. Chef Annie will work with you to create a personalized menu that suits your vision and budget, including halal, Kosher, and vegetarian options, as well as choices from our award-winning estate wines.
After the wedding breakfast, you can plan the type of party you'd like, whether it's dancing, live music, or just background music. Benguela Cove is a popular live music venue, with classic rock, jazz, and salsa performers from across South Africa. Additionally, you can choose between an open bar or having guests pay for their own drinks, keeping both your budget and the overall atmosphere of the event in mind.
As for accommodation, our luxurious and exclusive villas can accommodate up to 32 people, each with a fully equipped modern kitchen for self-catering, a pool, and a braai. By booking for both families, you can ensure that everyone is close by on the big day and turn it into a lovely holiday. Booking information can be included in "save the date" and wedding invitations sent to guests, ensuring early reservations. We'll have additional villas coming online later in 2023.
At Benguela Cove, we prioritize your comfort and convenience. Our onsite generator ensures that if there is a power outage, electricity is automatically restored within 30 seconds to the entire hospitality area, including restaurants and facilities.
During their stay, guests can enjoy a variety of activities, such as visiting the Art of Living Exhibition, taking a pontoon boat trip with wine tasting on the lagoon, dining at the new seafood and oyster bar on the estate, and taking guided tours of the winery and vineyards.
