Benguela Cove June Wine Deal: Three Estate Reds From the Edge of Africa

Some wines exist to impress. These three exist to be enjoyed.

For June 2026, Benguela Cove is offering its Estate Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Noir and Syrah as a set for R 945. Three bottles, all grown on the shores of the Bot River Lagoon in Walker Bay, all made by Cellar Master Johann Fourie with the same quiet conviction: let the place speak.

And Walker Bay has a great deal to say. Cold ocean currents, afternoon lagoon winds and a growing season that takes its time all conspire to give these wines a freshness and honesty that is hard to find at this price. The Cabernet Sauvignon carries dark fruit and a thread of fynbos, the indigenous scrubland unique to the Western Cape. It is brilliant alongside a lamb stew or a board of cured meats. The Pinot Noir is earthier, softer, the kind of wine that makes a simple roast chicken feel like a considered meal. The Syrah is the most expressive of the three, warm and gently peppery, built for a slow-cooked tagine or a winter braai (South African barbecue) with friends.

No overworking. No excess oak. Just wine that tastes like the southern tip of Africa, where a lagoon runs down to the Atlantic and fynbos grows between the vines.
