The Lighthouse Collection Moody Lagoon Red Blend 2021 earned a place among the top six finalists and secured a Top 3 position. This achievement is a testament to Benguela Cove’s commitment to producing exceptional wines that reflect the unique terroir of Walker Bay.

Lighthouse Collection Moody Lagoon Red Blend 2021 Tasting Notes

The Moody Lagoon Red Blend is a harmonious blend of five red cultivars: Shiraz, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot, Malbec, and Cabernet Sauvignon. Inspired by the nearby lagoon, the wine mirrors its ever-changing nature, offering a balance of fruit purity, intensity, and refreshing character.

"The spectacle that is the lagoon can be enjoyed in all its moods while sipping on this wine," says Cellar Master, Johann Fourie. "It calls for long table dinners with friends, offering the perfect balance between fruit and structure."

The Walker Bay region’s unique climate, influenced by the Atlantic Ocean and the “moody” Bot River Lagoon, creates ideal conditions for growing grapes. This terroir is evident in the wine's complexity and elegance.

About Shiraz SA

Shiraz SA is dedicated to promoting South African Shiraz and raising awareness of the exceptional wines produced from this noble grape variety. While Shiraz is often associated with Persia, DNA testing has confirmed its French origins. Despite uncertainty around its introduction to South Africa, Shiraz has become a cornerstone of the country's wine industry, with its first recorded entry in the Cape Agricultural Wine Competition in 1935.
