The Return of Sharing Lunch at Moody Lagoon Restaurant near Hermanus 

 

There is a particular kind of quiet that settles over a table when the food stops being served and starts being shared. No more waiting for your plate, no polite small talk while everyone eyes the last bite on someone else's dish. Just one spectacular platter in the centre, everyone leaning in, and the fire doing its slow work in the background. 

We are thrilled to announce that Sharing Lunch at Moody Lagoon Restaurant is back, and this season, Executive Chef Christo Hattingh has introduced a delicious new twist. While the beloved, unhurried spirit of the feast remains, the menu has been completely reimagined with a hyper-focused celebration of local Overberg producers, bringing fresh, seasonal elements straight from the farm to your platter. 

 

The Feast: Slow-Cooked & Reimagined 

At the heart of this returning favourite is a single, slow-cooked protein, chosen by the table and placed at the centre of the gathering. 

Guests can select from four beautifully prepared options, each priced per person: 

  • Free-Range Chicken | from R280 per person sharing (pair with Estate Chardonnay) 

  • Slow-Roasted Pork Neck | from R380 per person sharing (pair with Sauvignon Blanc or Rosé) 

  • Rare Roast Beef | from R450per person sharing (pair with Estate Syrah) 

The Chef’s Showcase: The lamb shoulder has quietly become our ultimate showstopper. Once it hits the table, nobody is looking at anything else. 

 

The New Twist: The Supporting Cast 

This season’s twist lies in the elevated side dishes. Chef Christo has designed a rotating cast of accompaniments that change gently with the Overberg harvest. Every protein now comes sharing style with: 

  • Two seasonal vegetable sides (sourced fresh from local boutique growers) 

  • Our signature decadent potato bake 

  • Freshly baked artisanal bread designed for tearing and dipping 

 

Unhurried Afternoons by the Lagoon 

This is a deliberately slow way to dine. Because each premium cut is slow-cooked from scratch to ensure melt-in-the-mouth tenderness, reservations require 24 hours' notice. 

  • When: Lunch 12:00 to 17:00 daily. 

  • Perfect for: Groups, corporate lunches, family days out. Mix and match your choice of proteins to create an unforgettable meal, and world-class attractions. 

  • The Setting: Located at Benguela Cove Wine Estate near Hermanus, right on the edge of the stunning Bot River Lagoon. 

Make a day of it, after the plates are cleared, wander over to the cellar door for a tasting, let the kids burn off some energy at the adventure golf course or splash park, or simply watch the sun dip low over the water. For those who truly want to let the afternoon run long, our luxury estate villas are available to book for an overnight stay.
