The Walker Bay estate secured a Trophy, four Double Gold medals and eight Gold medals, highlighting the quality and consistency of its cool-climate portfolio.

This marks the second time a Benguela Cove Pinot Noir has received a Trophy at the competition. The Vinography Pinot Noir 2019 was named the Airlink Pinot Noir Trophy winner at the 2021 awards.

The accolade led an outstanding performance for the estate, with 13 awards recognising the quality and consistency of its cool-climate portfolio.

Together, these results demonstrate considerable depth across Benguela Cove’s red and white wine portfolio. Recognition extended across all ranges, reflecting consistent quality across a diverse selection of varieties, styles and portfolio tiers.

The three Gold medals awarded to our Sauvignon Blanc wines are particularly noteworthy, while scooping four double gold medals for red wines reinforces our strength in producing both white and red wine of exceptional quality, all use 100% estate grown grapes.

Celebrating its 30th anniversary, the Michelangelo International Wine & Spirits Awards the results were announced at the competition’s gala event on 4 September at the Southern Sun Cape Sun in Cape Town. Wines were assessed through blind tasting using the international 100-point scoring system by a panel of 27 specialists. The panel included 15 international experts representing seven countries and 12 leading South African judges.

This remarkable result is a proud moment for everyone at Benguela Cove. We are immensely proud of our Cellarmaster, Johann Fourie, and our talented cellar team, whose passion, dedication and craftsmanship are reflected in every bottle. These accolades are a wonderful recognition of their hard work, and we are delighted to celebrate this well-deserved achievement together.
