Easter Trail and Activities 2026

Easter Trail and Activities 2026

Join the Easter Bunny and Friends for an Eco-Adventure at Benguela Cove

Easter is a time of renewal, vibrant colours, and making memories that last a lifetime. This year, why not trade the traditional chocolate hunt in the garden for a coastal safari that the whole family will cherish?

Nestled in the heart of the Hermanus wine region, Benguela Cove Lagoon Wine Estate invites you and your little explorers to experience an Easter like no other.

As a destination where luxury meets untouched wilderness, we are opening our gates for an interactive eco-adventure that combines the magic of the Easter Bunny with the majestic beauty of South Africa’s most celebrated flora and fauna. Whether you are a local resident or visiting the Western Cape for the holidays, our estate offers the perfect blend of education, excitement, and family-friendly relaxation.

Kogelberg Biosphere: Animals of Benguela Cove

When you visit Benguela Cove, you aren't just visiting a vineyard; you are stepping into a sanctuary located within the world-renowned Kogelberg Biosphere. Often referred to as the "heart of the Cape Floral Kingdom," this biosphere is home to a staggering array of biodiversity that we are deeply committed to protecting.

As you wander through the estate this Easter, keep your eyes peeled for more than just hidden eggs!

Our unique location along the Walker Bay shoreline creates a thriving corridor for wildlife. From the slither of the Puff Adder in the shrubs to the graceful leaps of a duiker, the estate is a living, breathing classroom where children can connect with nature in its purest form. It is this diversity of life that makes Benguela Cove a premier eco-tourism destination.

Species of the Air: Blue Crane, Cape Honeybee, and Flamingos

Look up, and you’ll find that the skies and wetlands of Benguela Cove are just as busy as the wine cellar! We are privileged to host the Blue Crane, South Africa’s national bird, whose elegant silhouette is a frequent sight across our fields. These vulnerable birds find safety in our protected wetlands, sharing the space with the vibrant pink hues of Greater Flamingos that frequent the water's edge.

But perhaps our hardest-working resident is the Cape Honeybee. These tiny environmental heroes are the backbone of our biosphere, pollinating the indigenous fynbos and ensuring our vineyards thrive. During your Easter eco-adventure, you may be able to see some of our tiny heroes, remember; without them our vineyard couldn't thrive as wonderfully as it does. So, give a small "Hi!", but please leave them alone to do their important work.

Cape Leopard Makes a Comeback!

November 2025 gave us the best news in 170 years; the Cape Leopard made its comeback to the Boland Mountain Complex – Benguela Cove is a proud partner of the Cape Leopard Trust. This collaboration allows us to support vital research and predator-friendly farming practices that protect these elusive big cats.

While they are notoriously shy and rarely seen by the naked eye during the day, motion-sensor cameras in the surrounding mountains and outskirts of the estate have confirmed their presence. This comeback is a testament to the health of our environment; by maintaining natural corridors, we provide a safe passage for these big cats to roam.

Last of the Wild: Horses Galloping about the Rooisand Nature Reserve

Just a stone’s throw from our vines, the Rooisand Nature Reserve offers a sight that feels like something out of a fairytale: the wild horses.

These resilient animals are thought to be the descendants of horses hidden in the marshes generations ago, and today they roam the wetlands with a sense of freedom that is captivating to behold. Watching them gallop through the shallow waters or graze peacefully against the backdrop of the mountains is a highlight for any visitor.

During your Easter 2026 visit, we encourage you to take a moment to look across the marshes and spot these wild spirits. They embody the rugged, untamed beauty of our region and remind us of the history that is woven into the very soil of Benguela Cove.

April is Earth Month: WWF Conservation Champions

This Easter holds even more significance as April marks Earth Month, a global movement to celebrate our planet.

Benguela Cove is immensely proud to be a WWF Conservation Champion, a prestigious recognition awarded to farms that demonstrate exceptional commitment to sustainable practices.

This isn't just a title; it is a way of life. We employ environmentally friendly farming techniques and have dedicated vast portions of our estate to remain as protected wetlands and fynbos reserves. By choosing to spend Easter with us, you are supporting a business that puts the planet first, ensuring that the "Friends and Flowers" of Benguela Cove - from the bees to the leopards - have a home for generations to come.

Join Us for an Eco-Adventure

Are you ready for the ultimate holiday quest? Adventure awaits young "Eggsplorers" on a guided estate trail through scenic vineyards.

As children navigate the natural surroundings, they collect colourful eggs hidden along the path, each unlocking specific rewards. Finding five blue eggs secures 10% off a Pirate Adventure Golf birthday party, while five red eggs earns a child one free entry voucher that is valid for one year to Pirate Adventure Golf. Collecting four of every remaining colour grants bonus treats.

The ultimate challenge is locating the elusive Golden Egg - only one is hidden daily – winner gets a luxury Easter hamper.

Regardless of their haul, every participant receives an Easter goodie packet plus all earned prizes at the journey's end. It is a magical quest where surprises wait around every corner for every lucky hunter.
