Benguela Cove has strengthened its position on South Africa’s fine-wine stage in Tim Atkin MW’s 2026 South Africa Special Report, with seven wines scoring 92 points or higher and the flagship Catalina Semillon 2024 achieving an impressive 95 points. More than a standout result, the scores demonstrate the depth and consistency of the estate’s portfolio across multiple varieties and styles, while Catalina’s inclusion among Atkin’s Best Semillons of 2026 places it alongside some of the Cape’s most respected producers.

The results also reinforce Walker Bay’s growing reputation as a premium wine region. Across his tasting notes, Atkin highlights the influence of Benguela Cove’s cool maritime climate, ocean proximity and distinctive sense of place, characteristics that are increasingly important in the global fine-wine market. Together with recognition for Moody Lagoon Restaurant, the report underscores Benguela Cove’s identity as more than a wine estate, offering an authentic connection between wine, food, landscape and hospitality on the shores of the Bot River Lagoon.
