This educational masterclass is designed for those seeking to understand the "why" behind the flavour - from the resilience of our chosen Tuscan cultivars to the technical precision of cold-pressing for absolute purity and freshness. With only 20 seats available, this is an enriching experience for the curious palate.
1. The Walk: Learn About Olive Cultivation with Jaco Mouton
Your morning begins at 11:30 with a guided walk through our lush olive groves along the pristine Bot River Lagoon. You will discover our unique blend of Coratina, Frantoio, and Leccino trees. Jaco will explain why these specific Italian cultivars were selected for their complexity and how they thrive within the unique cool-climate terroir of Walker Bay.
2. The Technical Tasting
Upon returning from the groves, we transition to a technical tasting of our signature Benguela Cove Estate Extra Virgin Olive Oil. This is where theory meets the palate. You will learn to identify:
- Aromatic Profiles: Rich fruit aromas showcasing green olive, apple skin, and hints of wild herbs.
- Palate Structure: A smooth, vibrant texture layered with almond and fresh artichoke.
