Meet Johann Fourie

Johann Fourie has been producing Benguela Cove's award winning wines since 2017, bringing world-class expertise from his previous role as Cellar Master at KWV, one of South Africa's most prestigious wine producers. A Diners Club Winemaker of the Year recipient, Johann's passion lies in expressing the unique character of cool-climate terroir.

Walker Bay's maritime influence – just 2km from the Atlantic – allows Johann to create wines of elegance and restraint, where balance trumps power. "Cool-climate winemaking is about patience and precision," he says. "The ocean gives us extended hang time and natural acidity that creates wines with real finesse."

Johann's expertise spans two continents – he's also Cellar Master at Leonardslee Family Vineyards in West Sussex, England, where he produces award-winning English Sparkling Wines. This unique dual role gives him unparalleled insight into cool-climate viticulture in both the Southern and Northern hemispheres.
