Enquire About This Sculpture

Fox Cub Sculpture by Carol Bryant

This is the smallest sculpture in Carol Bryant's collection, and one of the most domestic in setting. A vixen brought five cubs into Bryant's garden one summer at dawn, and after a spell of play, one cub curled up to rest while the others carried on. That's the pose the sculpture holds, rest without full surrender, one ear still turned for danger.

At 25 cm long, Fox Cub suits a windowsill, a bookshelf or a small garden bed. Resin lets Bryant keep the surface soft, catching the fine fur around the cub's face and paws without adding the weight a larger material would need. It's an approachable piece, a good starting point for a first sculpture purchase. Foxes are common garden visitors across the UK, and this sculpture works as well in an English courtyard as it does among Benguela Cove's fynbos.

Fox Cub is part of 'Where the wild things come to rest', Carol Bryant's outdoor exhibition running across Benguela Cove Lagoon Wine Estate from 2 October 2026 to 31 March 2027. Like the other nineteen pieces on show, it is available to buy for the full run of the exhibition.

From the Artist

"Last summer a vixen brought five cubs to play in the garden just as dawn broke. Then, obviously exhausted with play, one small cub curled up to rest, but as ever, watching for danger. Sometimes the vision stays in the mind with more vibrancy than a photograph could."
